Buying the iPhone Xr in South Africa
Earlier this month Apple release the iPhone Xs with a hefty price tag (see here)
In September Apple launched it’s priciest iPhone yet. The Xs feature a better camera, better fast processor, better screen and bigger size. This was released alongside a cheaper iPhone Xr. The Xr will become available in South Africa on the 28th of Oct. Heres how it compares
The iPhone Xr although supposedly inferior to the Xs and Xs Max outperforms the latter by 25% battery life.
An obvious difference between the iPhone Xr and Xs is the single camera of the Xr compare to the double camera of the Xs. The
This omission only comes at the cost of the two time optical zoom as the single camera can deliver portrait mode with the rear and front camera. The Xr also features Apples HDR functionality seen in Google Pixel 2.
The iPhone Xr features a larger less superior LCD
At first glance the iPhone Xr and Xs seem identical. Apart from the Xr being heavier its also slightly thicker due to the LCD screen.
Instead of a premium stainless steel chassis the iPhone Xr features a cheaper aluminium chassis used on the iPhone 8 as well .
For the cheaper price you do however get the same 25% loudspeaker increase. The Xr features the Dual Sim with the second sim supporting esim which sadly is not supported in South Africa.
The Xr and Xs both features the Apple A12 ‘Bionic’ chipset: Six-Core CPU, Four-Core GPU, M12 motion coprocessor. The only difference being the iPhone Xs’ 4GB ram compared to the Xr’s 3GB.
